Vehicle Description
'''ALERT--ALERT----PROJECT CAR---NEEDS ADDITIONAL RESTORATION'''
This post war, oversized family sedan is an unrestored example of
Packard's roomy, long wheel base, luxury vehicle. It was powered by
a 327cid inline 8cylinder engine, turning out 145 horsepower. This
particular car has the traditional but dependable 3spd manual
transmission. The car weighs in at 4590 lbs. and cruised the 40s
and 50s highways in smooth comfort attributed to its bruiser weight
and front coil spring independent suspension with
mechanical/hydraulic shock absorbers and rear leaf springs with
replaceable cylindrical shock absorbers. In total this series of
long wheel based Packards numbered only 865 units and of those
surviving unrestored you'll be hard pressed to find a better
example. Due to it's unrestored condition you will have issues to
resolve initially but this is not one of those projects that come
in a basket that never gets done. We have cranked the engine up and
it will run with an independent fuel supply. The fuel lines and
tank will need to be checked, cleaned or possibly replaced. The
brake, cooling and wiring systems have not been checked and will
undoubtedly need substantial restoration due to the vehicles long
hibernation. This car is massive, a brute, and will be an
impressive cruiser when back on the road. Just say'n, this isn't a
creampuff, but it appears solid and reasonably straight. If you are
showing, cruising or just collecting, this car leaves nothing to be
desired. The solid condition shown by lack of appreciable rust and
very few parts needed for restoration of this vehicle and its lower
than market price, for a vehicle in this condition, makes it a
perfect choice for getting into the classic car market either as an
investment opportunity or as a weekend or daily driver. If you've
wanted a beautiful classic and stylish car for a relatively easy
project, that comes with all the glamor and luxury comfort of its
day and at an affordable price this is the one! Don't wait. Mileage
