Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to present this 1948
Oldsmobile 98 Convertible Custom! Look no further because this is
by far the nicest Oldsmobile 98 available in the country, if not
the world. There was no expense spared during this build and the
listing price is a mere fraction of the cost to build this vehicle.
Under the hood of this 1948 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible Custom is a
GM Performance crate engine. This particular crate engine is a 502
Ram Jet V8 Big Block that has plenty of horsepower and torque. The
horsepower is over 500 and the torque is well beyond 500. For any
car enthusiasts this is a fantastic car. With the power adjustable
seats it does not matter your shape or size, you will fit in this
car. With the powerful engine, and built 700R4 transmission (1,800
RPM stall) you can simply cruise on down the road breaking every
neck along the way, or you can put the hammer down and put on a
smoke show at the end of every car show. Just forward of the custom
chrome tipped exhaust built into the chrome bumper is a
Posi-Traction 9" Currie rear end with 3.73 gears. Some people may
call this car a boat, but the parts used make this car handle like
a brand new sports car. Look behind the beautiful wheels at the
drilled and slotted rotors with Baer brakes slowing everything
down. When the builder took on this project he took his time
sourcing three vehicles to supply parts to make this one beauty you
see here. You cannot order parts for these just anywhere so finding
good donors was necessary. Every detail was poured over to make
sure this car kept as much original styling as possible, but had
every modern upgrade and creature comfort. The door panels are
custom, the woodgrain dash is custom painted, the black exterior
paint is in fantastic condition. The convertible boot cover is
leather wrapped over a custom piece of aluminum. The latch that
secures the convertible boot is the same latch used to secure the
top to the vehicle when it is up. Every inch of this car that is
not original was done in the best taste imaginable. To help
dissipate the heat from the motor the fenders have vents in them.
Take this car to shows and you will win. Whether you are showing
off the engine, exterior, undercarriage, or anything in between
this is truly the gift that keeps on giving. This 1948 Oldsmobile
