Yellow Pace Cars are considered to be a touch more desirable
because the actual Pace Car was a yellow convertible and also due
to the fact that just over 700 yellow convertibles were made in
1986. So, if you wanted to own that year's Indy 500 tribute car but
you didn't want just another 1986 model year convertible with some
stickers applied, you could at least buy the car in the proper
colors.
This fine example comes with the dealer-applied Pace Car graphics.
A very low mileage car, consigner stated 7,258 (WOW!) in excellent
condition and all correct including badging and wheels.
Exterior
All clean bright Yellow paint in very good condition covers this
fiberglass car. Dual electric controlled sport mirrors, and a black
convertible top works flawlessly. Aluminum wheels with a turbine
edge, large disc and deep inner hub with lug nuts and radials are
bolted on all 4 corners. All straight panels and gaps well minded
are seen throughout. The headlights are functioning well as are the
power windows.
Interior
Black leather buckets grace the inside of this Vette. They have
power adjustments, and several winged bolsters to keep you planted
during high speed cornering or showing off making doughnuts. A
digital driver information system is seen on the square design
dash, as well as the lighted information panel in the center
downward dash that heads toward the console. Here we note a 4-speed
automatic transmission shifter. Power windows, and power mirror
adjustments are here too. A key fob remote access button will get
you into the car as well as the rear storage area that has enough
room to house the convertible top. Carpeting appears in good
condition, and so do door panels.
Drivetrain
A 5.7 Liter electronic fuel injected V8 can be viewed within an
original engine bay with the flip of the hood. All is very clean
and indicative of a low mileage car. Nearly showroom condition.
Bolted on back is the 700 R4 4-speed automatic transmission.
Keeping everything cool is an all electric fan cooling system. It
is noted that this engine runs great and puts out plenty power.
Undercarriage
Wonderfully clean, and totally rust-free...looks like it just drove
off the lot. A performance handling package is shown here.
Suspension includes a posi trac rear, and fiberglass mono leaf
spring suspension is seen on the front and rear.
Overall a spotless Corvette that the consigner has stored away for
some time. All surfaces have benefitted from this storage in that
the exterior and interior are really nicely preserved. The Yellow
Indy Pace Car, with this low low mileage is a real collectible, low
production car, and a tribute to America's greatest race.
