Vehicle Description
1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet
Convertible. The term "convertible" is really only used for
automobiles. The word simply means to convert and refers to the
fact that a vehicle can be converted from one with a rooftop, to
one without a top. The word convertible is the more widely used
term in the auto industry today. Cabriolet. The word "cabriolet"
has a French origin that was derived back in the 1800's that
referred to a horse-drawn carriage with two wheels and a top that
could be pulled over the two occupants of the carriage when weather
became bad. Nowadays, the term cabriolet can be interchanged with
convertible and basically means the same thing.
This Carrera (Spanish for Race and Career referring to the success
in the Panamerica series) for consignment presents nicely and is
well preserved. Obviously pampered, garaged, and not driven all the
time (63,078 miles), a good example of a non turbo version of the
Porsche sports car, and a convertible!
Exterior
Badged Carrera 2 for two-wheel drive, the body on this car shows
straight steel panels all minding their gaps, are bathed in White
paint. Bumpers are unscathed, as well as an electronic rear spoiler
that lifts up and down based on speed, or you can lift it manually.
A blue canvas convertible top with no tears or major errors, has a
clear glass rear window. A CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light)
peeks out via a tube apparatus just below the rear window of the
convertible. Standard 16" Porsche wheels are on all 4 corners of
this car.
Interior
Showing very nicely, black leather buckets, and a folding 2+2 rear
seat also in leather, create the seating for this Carrera. These
seats are all in very nice condition, and sport plenty of power
controls. blue carpeting floods the floors and is in good
condition, and a blue tonneau top covers the convertible.
Instrument panel is very clean, as is center console with the
shifter imbedded in the center just below the dash.
Drivetrain
A 3.6-liter air cooled 6-cylinder engine with electronic fuel
injection, is underneath the rear deck. A 5-speed manual
transmission is attached.
Undercarriage
Plenty of ground effects and aero panels cover most of this clean
rust free undercarriage. Just a bit of patina from age is noted.
Independent suspension is all around as well as power disc brakes
on all fours.
Drive-ability
Good power, snappy shifting and gearing, and the iconic sound and
you'll know immediately you're in a Porsche. This one started right
up and was a fun ride especially with the top down.
Take advantage of this fairly low mileage car, an entry level model
of the Porsche 911 Carrera. Nice lines from 1992, good paint, and a
mechanically sound engine, all wrapped up in a convertible.
