In 1998 the Dana Corporation announced that it would be the primary
sponsor of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing team owned by
Bobby Hamilton. This fully restored (2004) Dodge 'Dana' is one of
five virtually identical trucks that were built, crewed and
campaigned by Bobby during the1998 season. (Bobby actually drove
the #4 truck and our #18 was driven by Joe Ruttman.) Since its
retirement, the current owner (14 yrs.) has only used the Dodge as
an educational tool - traveling around Ohio, West Virginia,
Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina to promote the Series. The
truck remains in 'factory trim' as raced by the Dana team. The
chassis is custom built and the power plant is a MOPAR 'R' series
LA motor. These castings were high iron/nickel content 'race-only'
blocks. Originally designed as a 318ci engine, this race spec
version is 355ci and is fitted with MOPAR aluminum heads that
contain racing valves/springs matched to a high-lift roller cam.
The engine is fitted with a high-rise aluminum intake, dual-line
Holley and dry sump oiling system. It is backed by a Doug Nash
wide-ratio 4-speed with fine-spline 'GM' style input shaft. The
clutch is a NASCAR 3-disk brass design with HD hydraulic
master/slave cylinders. The undercarriage is fitted with a Ford 9"
differential and race suspension. Front A-arms are adjustable with
coil springs for varying track conditions and the rear uses
trailing arms with track locators on each side. This Dodge Dana
race truck is just as it was raced 20 years ago - a piece of NASCAR
history. It is being sold with a Bill of Sale only. ALL VEHICLES
SOLD "AS IS".
