Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic cars of Atlanta is proud to present this 1960
Austin Healey Sprite. Known as the "Frogeye" in the UK and as the
"Bugeye" in the US the Austin Healey Sprite was produced in the
United Kingdom from 1958 through 1971. Originally with a 43 hp 948
cc engine, this 1960 Sprite has been upgraded with a 1275 cc engine
providing much better performance. Following the engine is a
5-speed manual Datsun transmission which makes this tiny
convertible a real blast to cruise. Front suspension is a wishbone
and coil spring setup with rack and pinion steering and the rear
leaf springs with lever-arm shock absorbers. The exterior is
finished in Iris Blue which was re-painted quite some time ago and
has been well maintained still looking great today. You will notice
there are no exterior door handles, this is how the Sprite was
produced requiring both driver and passenger to reach inside to
open the doors. The interior is pretty basic with black vinyl bench
seats, basic gauges, and no radio. Options on this Austin Healey
include: manual convertible top, seat belts, vinyl interior, hub
cap wheels with radial tires, and a full cockpit tonneau cover.
