***ALL VEHICLES ARE SHOWN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, AND MAY OR MAY NOT
BE LOCATED IN OUR STANLEY, WI SHOWROOM! Words can hardly describe
the thrill we feel to present this stunning 1940 Buick Limited
Convertible Phaeton. This extremely rare car is one of only 250
model 81C's produced by Buick in 1940. Another example was used by
Warner Brothers in the filming of Casablanca, and that car sold a
few years ago at auction for $380k. While this particular Phaeton
doesn't have burns in the fine leather upholstery thanks to
Bogart's perpetual Lucky Strike, this one was subjected to one of
the finest restorations available at the cost of nearly $400k.
Since then, she has been awarded an AACA Senior First Place, a
Buick Club of America Senior First Place, an AACA Top Favorite, and
both CCCA's Primary and Senior First Place honors (99.75 out of
100). This is an outstanding driving car, best described by none
other than Buick back in 1940: "It is a car of fine balance, steady
on the road, remarkable fleet, and so smooth in acceleration that
it is difficult to realize how swiftly your speed is rising unless
you watch the speedometer. Such a car finds ideal expression in
this trim-lined convertible model." The interior is just as
beautiful as the exterior, and according to Buick "the interior of
the Limited convertible phaeton is ample demonstration that roomy
comfort and tasteful finish are easily combined with the racy lines
of a convertible." If you possess the fine taste and means to add
this to your collection, you will certainly not be disappointed.
Many cars from this era are pleasing to the eye, but not many can
match the pure effortlessness of driving that you will feel as you
glide down the road. Reasonable offers always considered, and we
can assist with financing/shipping. We sell world-wide.
