Vehicle Description
1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible
Car History
The Ford Galaxie was a full-sized car that was built in the United
States of America by Ford for model years 1959 through to 1974.
We have a beautiful red on red 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible
with low miles, 292 V8 engine and automatic transmission and a like
new black convertible top here at Adventure Classics.
The Ford full-size line like the 500XL got a new
bucket-seats-and-console. The 292 cubic inch V8 was standard on the
500/XL. It had a sportier trim inside and out as part of the
package in response to Chevrolet's Super Sport option for the big
Impala, which was introduced the previous year.
Engine & Drivetrain
Our Galaxie looks like day one off the showroom floor with its
rebuilt and restored 292 cubic inch Ford V8 engine and transmission
sitting in the very clean and detailed engine compartment.
It has red paint on the engine block and intake, chrome valve
covers with "Thunderbird Special" decals on them, black air cleaner
assembly, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Dual Exhaust with hi-ram
factory exhaust manifolds, and all other hoses, clamps, and wiring
looks great.
Interior
The pictures do not do the awesome red front and rear bench seating
interior with the seats having white cording. The door panels match
and the dash is in great shape with all the gauges show well and
function appropriately.
It also has a Factory Clock, red carpet, black leather wrapped
steering wheel, radio, and nice black convertible top with a red
body color matching boot to cover it while it is down.
The adjustable Mylar-trimmed bucket seats flanking the center
console could be adjusted manually and electronically on a plush
interior with padded dashboard and optional front seat belts.
Exterior
The exterior body is in great condition with its bright red paint,
chrome side trim, dual mirrors, chrome front and rear bumpers, and
emblems and grille.
The 1962 models sported a more rounded, softer rear end look
without the tailfins. Taillights were set lower into the rear panel
and were partially sunken into the newly sculpted rear bumper.
Large, round, taillight cluster is similar to the ones on the
Thunderbird and appeared in 1962 on the Ford Falcon and Ford
Fairlane.
It rides great on the wide white walls on factory steel wheels and
chrome hubcaps.
Conclusion
The gorgeous red on red 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible we have
here at Adventure Classics is drop dead stunning, It gets looks
just sitting or driving down the road.
