Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars is happy to present this 1968 Jeep Wagoneer
into our Denver Showroom! Body- small paint touch ups and rust
repair has been undertaken for this trucks entire life. It is all
original except for these spot repairs, no extensive restoration
has ever been undertaken. There were several spots in the floor
where rust was starting, these areas were removed and new metal
welded in, seam sealed and undercoated. Headlights replaced with
upgraded Halogen bulbs. Engine- 4.2 AMC block with 2001 4.0 HO
cylinder head, "Rams Horn" EFI intake manifold, Borla Stainless
steel header, Microquirt EFI, 1 gallon header tank fed from main
tank. (the long shallow tank tends to run dry on inclines and
declines when less than 2/3s full.) Wideband O2 sensor with gauge
in cab, COMP Cams Xtreme Energy 4x4 Cam and Lifter Kits CL68-232-4,
Borla Stainless header, Aero chamber muffler and 3"exhaust. (Went
for a sound more like an old Aston Martin straight six or Big Healy
rather than typical flowmaster small block. Quiet enough to leave
the neighborhood, nice growl when you lean on it.) Jeep "stroker"
builders claim the 4.6L version of this motor is good for
270hp-275lbft, I say this motor is a realistic 230hp with 260lbft
since the scales say this truck weighs only 4040lbs (lightest
Wagoneer ever weighed perfect 50:50 distribution), 230hp moves it
very nicely with the manual trans. The engine runs smoothly from
500-5000rpm and makes best power from 1500-4800 rpm, exactly what
you want with 3 gears to select from. Suspension- Custom Made Espo
springs all bushings, wear points, shocks, damper and hardware
replaced. BFG TA KO Tires in 30x9.5 R15 in nearly new condition.
Replaced original 4.0:1 manual steering box with BB Monte Carlo
part with 2.6:1 ratio and a smidge of feedback. Set caster to 6
degrees for reasonable tracking on the highway. Brakes-Wilwood
Master cylinder feeding, J10 dually wheel cylinders (slightly lager
diameter) Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve, 10psi check
valves. Interior- 3 point seatbelts installed, carpet replaced.
Contemporary Bluetooth head unit in stock location with 4" drivers
in kickpanels and Retrosound dual voice coil speaker in the
original dash location. Don't miss your opportunity to own a piece
of Classic Car History in our Denver Showroom. This '68 Wagoneer
