Starting in 1992 it was the Achieva that won the SCCA touring
championship world challenge from 1992-through 1994 with the quad-4
platform.

"The particular Quad4 engine that came in this car shares the same
bore, cylinder head, intake plenum, valves as the 190hp SCX. With
the higher duration and lift SCX cams yielded the highest
horsepower LD2 version ever in stock form with the automatic (180hp
est.). In 1992 SC cars received a Ram Air plenum extracting cooler
ambient air (from outside the engine compartment around the drivers
side headlamp) as well as a vortex valve in the throttle body for
the added HP. Because of the technology gleaned from the Quad4
platform cars like the Saturn SC2 1.9L DOHC 130hp would not have
been made and nearly as successful. While the cams give this car
its characteristic W41 lope it is still very streetable but
something you will notice.
