The classic Impala was always one of Chevrolet's most successful
models and by 1961 they had already reached their 3rd generation of
vehicles. While the dual headlights remained, fins were now a thing
of the past as car design started to morph into what would become
the look for the muscle car era. This very cool 62 Super Sport has
a great look and incorporates a lot of very nicely done features.
It is a body on, nut and bolt restoration where basically
everything was redone. It didn't come off the frame and the paint
was left alone but outside of that it has been entirely gone
through by a very high quality builder. The body is solid and was
repainted Red in the past. All of the glass is in good condition as
is all of the trim and chrome work. In fact it has brand new
smoothie bumpers, a new grill, and all new trim. The dual
headlights up front work properly as do the triple taillights which
are all new. All of the factory emblems are in place and look good
as well. The car rides on Eagle Alloy wheels which are all 15 inch
and wrapped with Grand Am Radial R/T tires.

Under the hood is a very nice running, fully rebuilt 409 V8. The
rebuild was done by Charles Eller which has a great reputation in
the area for engine work. It has been fitted with Edelbrock
aluminum heads, a dual 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor set up, a
Billet Specialties TruTrac serpentine system, blacked out valve
covers/air cleaner and lots of other polished and chrome
components. In addition to running great the engine compartment has
a good show ready look with everything nicely mounted and cleanly
done. It doesn't have any heating issues with a Griffin Aluminum
radiator with dual electric fans. While it has a pretty stock
exterior there is no doubting the car has some power behind it when
you start it up. It has ceramic coated headers and dual exhaust
with Glass pack mufflers that deliver a very healthy rumble. The
motor is paired with a Muncie M22 rock crusher transmission that
transfers power back to the 9 inch Ford detroit locker rear end
with 3:55 gears. The suspension system has been entirely rebuilt
and it rides great. Literally the entire drivetrain is either new
or rebuilt. The car has power steering with a 500 series steering
box as well as power brakes so it is a nice comfortable driver.
There are discs up front and drums in rear.
The interior has been entirely redone as well except for the
headliner and door panels because they didn't need it. It has been
done in its original Red color and the upholstery/carpet work looks
great. Prior to the work being done Lizard Skin and Dynamat was
laid down which greatly decreases road noise and improves
temperature control. It has an original 1963 SS center console
which runs between the bucket seats and houses the Hurst shifter.
The dash area has been kept mostly stock except for the addition of
an Alpine stereo, Vintage AC with electronic controls and a 14 inch
1960 Impala steering wheel. The trunk offers up a ton of extra
storage space and houses the Alpine amp and Subwoofer.
This is a great looking classic that has had a TON of work put into
it. It is set up to be a very good driver and would make a great
addition to any collection. Impala's have always been popular but
in the recent year or so have noticed a lot of people asking about
them so we don't expect this one to be around long.
