1993 Ford Mustang LX Convertible
Americans have never been much for the metric system. We love our
country miles and our cups of sugar, and we are happy to tell you
what an ounce of prevention is worth. There is one metric
measurement, however, that's as American as the ten-gallon hat, one
that sets aflutter the hearts of Ford Mustang aficionados coast to
coast: 5.0 liters - "five-oh" to the faithful. Cheekily rounded up
from 4942 cubic centimeters, it's the engine displacement - denoted
by an iconic emblem behind the front wheel arch - that defined
Mustang performance for more than a decade.
For consignment a sly fox bodied 5.0 Mustang convertible. Just one
of a total 1,500 units produced in 1993 as a summer edition feature
car, bathed in Canary Yellow, and a convertible. This one comes to
us in excellent condition with a paltry 12,150 original miles. A
rarity in just that rite, but with the summed edition even better.
Runs like a Swiss watch, and looks like a supermodel, a car that
could be considered an investment.
Exterior
All laser straight steel panels with meticulously minded gaps, no
rust, no errors and factory paint bathed in Metallic Canary Yellow,
this car is excellent. A slight modification from the original is a
black trim band has been added encircling the entire car changed
from factory yellow, and the front embossed neoprene bumper badge
is now painted in black, and I must say is an improvement over the
original. This adult owned gem features a unique rear spoiler in
matching body color, and a black power convertible top which is
nice and tight and has a clear rear window. To make the bold color
pop even more, this retro Mustang is outfitted with a set of
feature car-specific chrome 16 inch pony wheels on all four
corners.
Interior
An immaculate black leather interior is the perfect contrast to
this pony's bright yellow exterior. Interior highlights include the
'pony' headrests, floor mats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel,
power driver's seat with power lumbar support, cruise control, and
electric remote mirrors. The car does retain the factory AM/FM
Cassette with Premium Sound. Even better, when the top is up on
this 'Stang, the creature comfort of air conditioning keeps
everything inside nice and cool. All is very clean here and an
additional rear 2 plus 2 bench is available to throw two more of
your friends in for the ride. An additional shout out to the trunk
where it is lined with the black felt and all buttoned up with nary
a mark back here.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is the all corrosion free and shiny hose no rust,
drips or errors on this 5.0 liter Electronic fuel injected V8. On
back is an AOD 4-speed automatic which throws power to the rear
Ford 8-inch 3.08 Trac-Loc rear axle. Noted also are factory
headers.
Undercarriage
Up on the lift we can say that this car may have never seen bad
weather, and plenty of inside the garage time. Yellow factory
overspray for the floorpans, nice perfect shiny black unibody
edges, near perfect suspension (independent coil springs for the
front, and 4 link with coil springs for the rear) totally rust
free. Original sport tuned exhaust system, and power discs' upfront
and power drums for the rear.
Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and I was the conductor for an 8-cylinder
symphony, with the accelerator as my wand. During my test drive I
put this car through its paces where it performed beautifully,
handled like a dream, and was like driving a new 1993 Mustang.
A rare canary for sure, and with the low mileage even more special.
Bought for an investment, this car has seen little use, and is all
buttoned up ready to show, or go, or just sit and make money. Truly
a very sly fox.
