Car History

The 1978 25th anniversary Corvette was the official Pace Car model for the Indianapolis 500 in 1978. It had a distinctive paint theme and striping that set it apart from the other models produced by Chevrolet at the time.

Chevrolet created that limited edition Pace Car Replica that was an option that added over $13,000 to the price of the car (more than the base price!). They had a distinctive Black/Silver two-tone paint with a red pin-stripe.

Production of the pace car replica was limited to one for every Chevrolet dealership. This amounted to 6,502 pace cars built in 1978 & a lot fewer were made with the L82 option like the one we have here at Adventure Classics that shows a little over 20,000 miles.

Engine & Drivetrain

Our Vette is powered by the L82 350 cubic inch engine that was an option that was rated at 220 horsepower and 260 ft-lb of torque, on these Corvettes that year. It runs smooth and powerful and the transmission shifts excellent.

It has all the factory stock L82 items such as the Rochester 4-barrel carb, aluminum factory intake, cast iron exhaust manifold, stock fresh air scooped air cleaner assembly, ignition shielding, and the great looking finned aluminum Chevrolet Logo valve covers.

Interior

The interior is very nice and shows well for its age. These Pace Car 25th-anniversary Corvettes were complemented with a beautiful all silver twin bucket seat interiors

It has Power Windows, Power Locks, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt & Telescopic Steering Column, Cruise Control, Glass T-Tops, Speedometer & Tachometer, Gauges, Console, AM/FM Stereo Radio, and all looks as original as the day it was built.

Exterior

The exterior is in great shape, the paint is a distinctive Black/Silver two-tone paint with a red pin-stripe that shows very well in the sun and looks detailed and in great condition. It rides on Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires and the factory original Chevrolet Corvette polished slotted wheels.
