Classic Italian exotics are always popular and desirable cars, but
they are rarely easy to live with and can be very expensive to
maintain with their complex and sometimes fragile Italian engines.
This is why the Pantera is so popular now. You have the late 60's
Italian styling, the advantages of a mid-engine design, the
efficiency of a ZF 5 speed transmission and the durability, power
and low cost maintenance of the famous Ford 351 Cleveland. Don't
forget that even in completely stock trim the Pantera is within 16
horsepower of the half million-dollar Ferrari Daytona, and adding
HP to 351C is cheap!
This 1972 Pantera is one of the early desirable small bumper and
high-compression engine variants. Most pantera's on the market have
been significantly modified and many no longer even have their
original engine, but this car is still very close to its original
factory configuration.
The 351 Cleveland starts and runs well i has gotten some upgrades
in its earlier life and a recent tuneup. It runs fanstastic with
good power and torque and will make you grin when you hit the gas!
The transmission is quiet, shifts smoothly and clutch operation is
direct, smooth and linear. The engine has good oil pressure and
always runs cool.
Interior is in very good driver condition. The carpet is excellent
and the seats look very good and appear to wear their original
upholstery. The headliner is tight and clean.
The instrumentation functions properly as you would expect, the
lights, wipers and headlight motor assemblies all work fine as
well.
This car has never been restored. The paint (repaint) is glossy.
There are imperfections in the paint on the roof. The overall
appearance of the car is very good, but there are a few bubbles in
the driver's door and behind the passengers door.
The engine
