wheel!The Prowler was designed by Chrysler design head Tom Gale,
himself a hot rodder who wanted to give the public a new and modern
slant on a 1930's hotrod! The idea was to keep it light with an
aluminum chassis and mechanical components to which slender A-arms
were attached either end for full independent suspension. At the
front, the coilovers were mounted inboard as per race cars while
the rear had a multi-link arrangement. To distribute weight evenly
the gearbox was mounted out back. It all added up to neutral
handling and supercar cornering. The Autostick allowed the driver
limited manual shifting! There were only 457 built in 1997, its
first year of production. The car was continued from 1999 until the
year 2002, by which time the 'Plymouth' marque had been
discontinued with the 'Chrysler' name having replacing Plymouth for
the 2001 and 2002 models. In total some 8,532 Plymouth Prowlers
were built and 3,170 Chrysler Prowlers. The Prowler was the only
series produced modern high technology tribute to the American hot
rod and boasts the distinction of also being the U.S.A's most
aluminum intensive car! Built by hand in Detroit with an original
MSR of $42,000 in 1999 + $700 destination charge with approximately
20% being sold with matching trailers available for an additional
$5,075. This particular example has had only one southern
California owner since new and was obviously always garaged and
covered with no history of any accidents or damage! Always
primarily serviced at the 'Tustin Chrysler Jeep Dodge' dealership
in Tustin, AC and boasting only some 5K original miles and a clean
Carfax report confirming both the car's service history and
mileage!The original and highly striking 'Prowler Black' Clear Coat
factory color paint is in absolutely outstanding condition and the
'Agate' interior with 'Agate' leather bucket seats and a matching
'Black' soft top are also in as immaculate condition with virtually
no signs of any wear and all the options and gauges are working as
they should including the ice-cold A/C. This well maintained and
extremely low original 5K mileage example runs strong, the
transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, there are no
oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool - drives and
looks exactly like a virtually still brand new vehicle with such
low miles should! You will look long and hard to find a finer
example of this very desirable 'Black with Gray interior' and
increasingly collectible 2000 Plymouth Prowler, with 5K original
miles with this particular example obviously always garaged and
covered with no accidents and only owned by one very careful and
mature non-smoking driver/owner since new!
