1990 Ford GTD 40 Recreation For Sale - Built By GT Developments In England LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1990 Ford GTD 40 Replica The Ford GT40 was born out of the infamous feud between the two manufacturing giants, Ferrari and Ford. By 1963, the deal was put to the table and would see Ford purchasing Ferrari to create road cars and competition machinery. Enzo Ferrari would soon reconsider the offer from Ford and sent them back to the US empty handed. Understandably angry, Henry Ford II ordered Ford's point man, Don Frey, to go to Le Mans and beat Enzo Ferrari. With such low production of original race cars and road cars, values have reached well beyond the average collector giving the opportunity for numerous companies to re-create these iconic cars. One such company was GT Developments of Poole, England, who built Ford GT40 replicas. This 1990 GTD40 is a wonderful re-creation of Ford's iconic GT40 and features beautiful bodywork closely replicating the original car. Finished in Red with White Ford rocker stripes, it is equipped with dual side-view mirrors and additional lights at the rear to comply with road laws. The car rides on Goodyear tires mounted on Halibrand-style faux knock-off wheels. The GTD40 is powered by a Ford 302ci V-8 engine and backed by a 5-speed manual transaxle. It also features MSD electronic ignition and breathes through four Weber carburetors. The interior is trimmed in beige leather with red welting. The dash carries on that color combination, housing Smiths instrumentation and an Alpine radio unit with CD. The bucket seats feature generous bolstering, and each is equipped with a four-point Simpson seat-belt harness. The paint is stunning and has been wet sanded and polished to a show finish. Having covered only 805 miles since completion, the car is in outstanding condition. This GTD40 is accompanied by period literature, a copy of its certificate of origin, invoice from GTD and more.
