Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this stunning 1954 Chevrolet
Corvette. When Chevrolet debuted the Corvette in 1953 they likely
never expected it to continue production over eight generations and
more than 60 years - but it has become "America's Sportscar" and
this C1 is the car that started it all.
This example was purchased by our client out of the famed Darryl
Starbird collection in Afton, Oklahoma. It had been part of the
collection since 1994 and received an exacting, frame-off
restoration during Starbird's ownership. With only 500 miles since
restoration, this 'Vette looks as good or better than when it left
the factory; it took first place honors at the 32nd annual spring
meet of the Sunshine Corvette Club in Miami in 2018.
Finished in Polo White over red interior with a tan canvas top and
correct side curtains along with a full tonneau, paint, body, trim
and glass all present beautifully. The correct (code F54YG) 235
cubic inch inline six breaths through triple Carter sidedraft
carburetors and transmits power through the only available
transmission - a two-speed Powerglide. Firestone whitewall bias ply
tires are mounted on factory wheels.
While later iterations or the C1 Corvette may be faster and easier
to drive, this early pure design is a must have for any serious
collector - and with fewer than 4,000 '53-54 models produced, you
are not likely to see another one at the show. A binder of
restoration photos and the Corvette service guide accompany the
sale.
