The "Advance Style" Chevrolet Pickup started production in May of
1947. GM's first redesign since World War II these new pickups had
new features such as integrated headlights and three passenger
seating. Offering unparalleled comfort and styling these new trucks
set industry standards that competitors such as Ford Dodge and
Studebaker would soon adopt. Chevrolet kept this design relatively
unchanged for a span of eight years until production ceased in
1955. This particular truck is a half ton 3100 model powered by the
bulletproof 216 cubic inch six cylinder motor affectionately known
as the "Stovebolt Six". Power is transferred to the wheels via a
three speed manual transmission mounted on the steering column.
This truck has a rare five window cab with two extra rear quarter
windows that curve with the contour of the cab to eliminate all
blind spots. In 1952 most pickups had all of their trim painted
body color instead of chrome due to shortages for the Korean War.
This truck however had no expense spared coming with optional
chrome trim heater five window cab and integrated turn signals.
