The swoopy coupe design, big Caddy V8 power, and a tastefully
updated A/C interior all come together to make this a 1947 Cadillac
Series 61 a vintage machine that also has modern appeal.
This car is both elegance and patriotic. It's based on the pre-WWII
designs because the luxury car production lines weren't even in
full swing yet after the war. In fact, a premium Series 61 club
coupe like this is rare with less than 7,300 produced. So how many
do you think survived nearly 75 years to look this good today?
These really were something special with their fastback profile and
long fenders. In fact, speaking of those fenders, we love how the
front ones extend into the door line. The way they close to show an
almost seamless look that tells you this one has been treated with
respect. The maroon paint is an update later in life, and it still
retains a nice gloss. And for those who want big luster, the
form-hugging grille and wraparound bumpers shine to a level that it
makes sure this Caddy leaves a lasting impression. There are
terrific details like the windshield sunshade, full-length white
pinstriping, frenched antenna, and a new set of whitewalls.
The white exterior pinstripe not only coordinates with the
whitewall tires, but also gives you a preview of the white leather
interior. And with the maroon intertwined on the door panels, dash,
and carpeting, this has a well-coordinated total package. This one
retains nice vintage pieces like the Art Deco style dash with
symmetrical layout. But you can also spot plenty of upgrades that
make this a great custom cruiser. You get a nice grip from the
updated steering wheel, and the custom center console houses the
AM/FM digital tuner with cassette and controls for the cold-blowing
R134a air conditioning.
The ultra-clean engine bay gives you a clear view to the big V8.
This car was born in the era of the outstanding Cadillac OHV
engine, but now it benefits from evolution. This is 472 cubic-inch
version that's much larger than what was available in 1947. There's
a four-barrel carburetor on top for good power, and it fires up and
runs like a smooth Caddy should. The full package also has a
stout/smooth TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, and power brakes with front discs. So this classic
Cadillac coupe still knows how to confidently cruise in modern
times.
This is history, distinction, and luxury all wrapped in a terrific
classic Caddy style. So you know you don't want to miss this deal.
