Toyota FJ40 production began in 1960 and continued through 1984. Over those 24 years, the FJ 40 remained largely unchanged as the formula remained successful: Small, maneuverable, reliable and rugged. As such, the FJ40 was quickly embraced byt the 4X4 community.
