Vehicle Description
This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute Convertible has exactly
what you want. You have proper big block proper, a proper SS
suspension, and the proper look of a sharply-done drop-top classic.
So we bet you already know you need to be properly quick about this
one.
This car is quite striking from its first impression in the way it
mixes speed with sophistication. The '66 cars blend artful touches
(like the subtle Coke-bottle curves) with subtle aggression (like
the intimidating overhang on the hood.) And this one really does it
right. The blue paint has a deep shine and even a hint of metallic.
So the sunlight love this sunshine-friendly convertible. And it
only gets better with a super-straight body that lets the light
roll evenly across the whole package as it highlights the awesome
curves of the Chevelle. It has all the right Super Sport upgrades,
like the ribbed rockers, full badging, and louver trim on the hood.
Plus, the blacked-out SS grille goes nicely with the clean black
folding roof. And because we love the brightwork on these classics,
it looks mirror-like everywhere from the window trim to the chrome
king bumpers. And those upgraded REV alloys wheel add to the shine
while also giving this an aggressive 18/20 inch font/rear
stance.
With the flip of a switch, the crisp black roof powers down to
reveal a nice black interior. So you get a striking contrast
against the bright blue with the top up or down. This was an
upgrade later in life, and so the carpeting is plush, the seats are
crisp, and the dash is smooth. And this sea of dark black is broken
up by plenty of classic bright trim. This is the kind of car that
family and friends will want to take a ride, but it's also
absolutely a driver's machine at its heart. That's why you have
front bucket seats, a center console in-between, a floor shift,
Chevy's sports steering wheel, and a tach correctly mounted on the
column.
Under the hood is a very clean and mean powerhouse. The badging
might say 396, but this is actually a larger 454 cubic-inch big
block V8. And this one hides its added displacement well with a
factory-style look, everywhere from the bright orange block to the
clean GM hoses. There's even a proper Holley four-barrel carburetor
on top. But what makes a muscle machine like this an all-around
great classic are the driver-friendly features. For example, the
TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is stout enough to handle
the enhanced V8, and it's also smooth enough for Sunday cruising.
There's also power steering, power brakes with front discs,
upgraded sport tires, and an SS-style 12 bolt rear end with
reinforced boxed trailing arms and a sway bar.
Here's a beautifully restored Chevelle convertible that has also
been enhanced with a great-running big block. This is properly a
total package classic that you don't want to let slip away. Call
