The result was the "LT5" V8- a dual-overhead-cam motor with 4-valves per cylinder and a variable runner intake system designed by Lotus generating 375hp, 370lb ft of torque and 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds. Gears are selected through a 6-speed ZF manual transmission linked to a Dana 44 limited-slip rear end geared 3:45 for optimal off-the-line and top speed performance. Of course, the ZR-1 received mechanical and visible appearance enhancements beyond its powerplant including a wider body and rear wheels, heavy duty brakes and a handling package.
