The Porsche 911 is one of the most recognizable cars in the world!
Since its introduction at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the
car's general shape hasn't changed all that much. The
high-performance rear-engine sports car's engineering philosophy
has always been continuous development while keeping the basic
concept unchanged. This familiarity is probably the reason why
people are so endeared with its simple design.
The 1989 911 Carrera Cabriolet offered here from Art & Speed blends
the earlier models' tradition with more modern touches and comfort.
Presented in Velvet Red with Champagne leather interior, this is a
well-maintained two-owner car owned by the same person since 1991
and includes lots of documentation to go with it.
The Velvet Red paint is freshly resprayed and expertly layered with
a base/clear finish. The interior matched Champagne-colored top is
in terrific shape, seals nicely, and works as it should. A like-new
original black cloth boot snaps into place to cover the top when it
is down. The glass is also in excellent shape. The original
three-piece BBS wheels were recently sent off to be entirely
refurbished and look stunning on the car against the contrasting
paint.
Under the bonnet, you will find a nicely carpeted compartment
containing the original Porsche tool kit along with a Pioneer
six-disc CD player added by the previous owner. In the rear, you
will find the 214-horsepower 3.2-liter flat-six engine to be
cleanly presented and in good working order. The power is
transferred through a Getrag G50 five-speed manual transmission.
Known for its reliability, you won't find a more robust combination
than the late-'80s Carrera powertrain. With a tick over 100,000
miles, this one has plenty of life left in it. Behind those pretty
BBS wheels sit disc brakes at all four corners, which are sure to
provide plenty of stopping power for this nimble corner carver.
Sliding into the brand-new Champagne perforated-leather interior,
the seats hug you in all the right places to keep you comfortably
planted behind the wheel. The door panels, carpet, and mats are
color-matched and present well. The black leather-skinned dash is
in very good condition with no signs of dehydration or cracking.
All of the gauges work as they should. The original Blaupunkt
stereo cassette player is present and works with the aforementioned
Pioneer six-disc CD changer. A center console houses the climate
control, shifter, and defrost. Other amenities include
air-conditioning, power windows, and power seats - all in working
order.
If you are in the market to find a shining example of a rust-free
Porsche Carrera Cabriolet, this 1989 Velvet Red version is calling
your name. It is the last year for the body style and is sure to go
up in value. Come by Art & Speed and take this one for a spin.
We're sure you'll be ready to make some room in the garage for this
droptop!
