Every now and again you meet a collector of motorcars whose passion
runs well beyond the what or how many regarding the contents of
their garage. These unique individuals see their automobile
collection as a series of works of art; keeping them as original as
possible is significantly more important and valuable than a
wonderful looking car that has undergone a frame off restoration
(or two). The exterior patina the perfect interior and consoles
un-marred by the careless tossing of keys, change and other
paraphernalia; the original door moldings in almost perfect
condition; a steering wheel darkened over time by the natural oils
from the drivers hands. Add to these other important features
offered by a vehicle like this such as the original emblems and
badges (that still retain their vibrant colors after all the
years); the original numbers matching mechanical components from
front to back and low, original miles. All these things and more
separate a good car from a truly remarkable car.
We, both you and I, are fortunate to have access to a few cars from
one collector that without doubt falls into this category. This is
his amazing 1968 T-Top Corvette Coupe. This is a late model year
427ci - 400hp with triple two barrel carburetors, a 4 Speed manual
transmission and factory A/C. The car has traveled 23,300
documented original miles and has won numerous awards from NCRS and
others along the way. The paint is 80% original and is mint; the
interior is 100% original and also mint. The steering wheel, the
gauges, seats, and door panels look N.O.S. (New Old Stock) as do
the badges etc. Everything works, all the Fiber Optic lights, the
radio, the AC, everything; even the original smog pump is still
installed and working and the car features a latched, removable
rear window.
This car is a survivor; we have the original sticker and a book
with an article written about this specific car as well as a thick
file of documentation. Offered at $75,500, this car will make you
the envy of any car collector friends with whom you associate. So
the question is do you want to own the original Picasso or are you
happy with the Picasso where someone else has painted over it to
cover the natural imperfections in the paint? If you need any
assistance with financing please let me know.
